Dr. Michael J. Barondes is a specialist in retina and vitreous disorders. He received his medical degree from Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts. He completed his internship in the Department of Medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York and an ophthalmology residency at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, New York. Dr. Barondes completed a Medical Retina Fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, England, followed by a fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin. He has authored articles on retinal disorders and participated in teaching at local and national meetings. Dr. Barondes' clinical interests include management of diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and retinal detachment. He is a faculty member of the East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine.
